Impressions Series 2011

Mixed media on paper, mounted on paper, paper size 13 1/4” X 11”

In the summer of 2011, at an artist residency at the Kunstnarhuset in Ålvik, Norway, I took an experimental playful approach experimenting with printing actual botanical specimens like leaves, seaweed, and grass from the surrounding area. At times, I printed these elements on found waste sheets that were in the shop as well as beginning with clean paper. Following that, I cut the paper pieces, painted on them, and reconstituted them into grid compositions. The grid is a formal device that I enjoy using in endless permutations.
